Today William B. Meyer, Inc. announces its 2014 Q2 Values Leader and Values Honorable Mentions as part of the LEADERSHIP IN VALUES (LIV) employee recognition program. For the first time ever, all three winners are out of our Stratford location. Honorable Mentions for the second quarter goes to Patty from Household Goods and Peter from Records Management. The Q2 Values Leader Cheryl hails from our Accounting group for her “above and beyond” efforts to maintain an appreciated company tradition that has made many a day brighter for a number of us at William B. Meyer.
Cheryl is our Values Leader for her most recent effort and thoughtfulness in helping create a pleasant work environment, in this case for all the ladies at the Stratford office. We all recognize Cheryl and her team’s continuing efforts in organizing fun events for us each year, including the summer picnic and Christmas party. In this case, Cheryl went out of her way to keep another annual tradition alive, which was considered being abandoned due to increasing costs. Every Easter for as long as we can all remember, each of the women working out of Stratford has received a lovely flowering Easter plant to brighten up her work area. With escalating costs, a discontinuation of the tradition was closer than ever before. To help protect this tradition, Cheryl stepped way outside of her Accounting function and exhibited “out of the box” Creativity, Integrity, and Dependability by sourcing out beautiful plants from a different vendor and negotiating them at a fraction of the traditional cost. She also utilized her member card to further drive the price down and then single-handedly loading all 70 plants into her own vehicle, transporting them back to the office, unloading, and labeling them so that each flowering plant could brighten the day of its recipient.
Values Honorable Mention goes to Patty who was nominated for her outstanding Integrity and Honesty in the Household Goods department. Patty went above and beyond to clarify and resolve a misunderstanding with a customer who was under the misconception that she was being packed, loaded and delivered on the same day; which isn’t a common occurrence. Patty showed Integrity and Creativity by going out of her way to call the origin agent and convincing them to negotiate with the driver to deliver the shipment that same day. After many “back and forth” discussions, Patty was able to negotiate a compromise and the driver agreed to do the same-day delivery. Thanks to Patty’s Dependability and Honesty, she ensured that we had a satisfied customer!
Values Honorable Mention also goes to Peter, nominated for his exceptional Integrity and Honesty in resolving a potential issue with a large Records Management client. The client had concerns on our reporting system due to some program limitations. Using a true client-centered approach, Peter exhibited Integrity and Honesty by acknowledging the limitation, and then working directly with the client to find an equally acceptable alternative solution to their challenge. Peter received a second LIV nomination for his all-around dedication to William B. Meyer and the Records Management team. Peter was described being a dedicated, highly dependable employee who eats, sleeps, and breathes MEYER and its customers; working after hours, coming in on weekends, and pitching in wherever required to make sure the job is always done right!
