Continuing their yearlong celebration of one hundred years in business and in conjunction with national Pet Month, William B. Meyer, Inc. and its employees once again met a company-wide community challenge and collected donations of pet supplies for the Connecticut Humane Society. The Stratford, Connecticut based storage and logistics company held the community support challenge in the second quarter and exceeded the goal of collecting 1,000 pet items for the Connecticut Humane Society.
The company’s challenge, aptly named “Barking Into 100 Years” for the tie to both National Pet Month and the company’s 100 year anniversary, ran at all three William B. Meyer, Inc. locations in Stratford and Windsor, Connecticut and Bedford Hills, New York from May 15 through June 29. The challenge to collect items was focused primarily in the Hartford area (MEYER’s Windsor location), however all three locations contributed items and met their individual collection goals. The final donation count delivered to the Connecticut Humane Society headquarters in Newington totaled 1,172 items. The items delivered by William B. Meyer, Inc. employees included almost 90 pounds of dry dog and cat food; more than 600 cans of wet dog and cat food; boxes of treats; an assortment of new/gently used towels and blankets; dryer sheets; cat litter; leashes and collars; re-usable fabric bags; pet toys; pet beds; rabbit food and pet food bowls. In addition, William B. Meyer, Inc. will also be donating and addition $1,000 monetary donation to Connecticut Humane which will be used for funding medical treatment, feeding, shelter and adoption services at the Humane Society.
Connecticut Humane Society Public Relations Director, Alicia Wright remarked that, “As we do not receive any funding from the government or national humane organizations, donations are absolutely crucial for continuing our services and stocking our Pet Food Pantry. We were thrilled with the generosity and donations from the employees at William B. Meyer, Inc. We thank them for supplying us with much needed supplies that will enable us to care for many pets, provide needed community services and continue our society’s mission.”
