William B. Meyer, Inc. is Over the Moon to Volunteer at the Reach for the Stars Event

Earlier this month, William B. Meyer, Inc.  volunteered at the Connecticut Children Medical Center’s Reach for the Stars event. The William B. Meyer, Inc. volunteers totaled nearly 40 people, which included our team members and their friends and family members! The Reach for the Stars event is a chance for children of all ages affected by cancer to take a step back from their illness and enjoy their childhood. It’s a day where kids can be kids.

On the first Sunday of June, the Meyer team was ready to launch in to action to help out at various venues at the event. These venues included games, grills, bubbles, and even a bouncy house. The Meyer team didn’t hesitate to make sure each child was having a wonderful time. Every year this event is a great opportunity for pediatric cancer survivors, patients, and their families to have a fun way to reconnect with their supporters and caregivers. Our volunteers worked hard to make sure every kid had an out of this world experience.

Cheryl Holden, a member of our accounting team, reflected, “As an experienced volunteer, it was my second year participating in this event after volunteering for 8 years at the Cycle of Life events. Each year, it gets better and better. The kids have a blast and it is really rewarding to see the smiles on their faces.” The Reach for the Stars event is an unforgettable day not only for the volunteers, but for the kids, too. It is a day where children and their loved ones can live in the moment.

President of William B. Meyer, Inc., Tom Gillon, Jr., said it best: “It’s important to give these kids the opportunity to let their true colors show. By helping them in the way we do, we show them that there is no star too far out of their reach for them to grasp.” Giving kids this experience and teaching them this valuable lesson is one of our favorite ways to give back. The Reach for the Stars event makes a great impression on every child, their caretakers, and our volunteers.
