Transforming Meyer’s Headquarters into a Workplace Solution Showcase
Introduction/Overview

As Meyer’s business has grown in recent years, so has its identity: Meyer has become a leader in Workplace Solutions, helping companies transform and modernize their work environments. From their storied history of relocating businesses, industrial rigging, offsite storage and records management to their more recently enhanced office renovation and project management services, Meyer helps clients transform their work spaces.

To honor this evolution, Meyer’s leadership team recognized that its headquarters lagged behind its new identity, and that they needed to elevate their own workspace.

The Challenge

Meyer’s Stratford, Connecticut headquarters was built more than 50 years ago. In recent years, the main offices along with communal areas like kitchens and conference rooms were all updated. However, the lobby, a crucial first impression for clients and employees, remained stuck in the past, failing to embody Meyer’s forward-thinking vision and dynamic values.

Approaching the renovation created dueling priorities – to honor Meyer’s rich history while launching forward into the next chapter and an exciting future for the company.

Practically, Meyer needed to renovate these key entry points to the facility efficiently and without disrupting employee workflow.

The Solution

Embracing its own expertise, Meyer’s internal project management and renovation teams embarked on a transformative journey, reimagining their entry points with a strategic blend of heritage and innovation. Meyer partnered with:

  • StudioJAED, The architectural firm reconfigured the space, optimizing flow, enhancing security, and infusing modern furniture and fixtures.

  • Fathom, Meyer’s brand and marketing partner seamlessly integrated the new identity into the space, weaving core values and messaging into the environment. The Fathom team also recommended and designed a captivating historical timeline on the staircase celebrating the company’s 108+ year legacy, developed posters featuring team members delivering on the company’s purpose and promise, and created a dedicated lobby section highlighting Meyer’s five core values and highlighting the Leadership in Values champion from last year.

Results

  • Efficiency and Beauty: The renovated lobby and landing are not only aesthetically pleasing but also functionally optimized, streamlining visitor flow and collaboration.
  • Cultural Immersion: The space breathes life into Meyer’s values, serving as a constant reminder of their mission and purpose. Employees and clients are immersed in the Meyer spirit from the moment they step through the door.
  • Boosted Team Morale: The unveiling ceremony witnessed palpable enthusiasm and pride from the Meyer team, who felt recognized and valued through the dedicated displays.
  • Energized Workforce: Returning from the holidays, the team feels a daily surge of inspiration, fueled by the environment that reflects their company’s essence and future.

Key Takeaways

Meyer’s headquarters renovation is a testament to the power of aligning physical space with company culture, and offers valuable insights for any organization seeking to:

  • Infuse their brand identity into their workspace
  • Bridge the gap between history and future in a meaningful way
  • Promote collaboration and productivity through strategic design
  • Foster a culture of recognition and employee pride

The Meyer transformation isn’t just a case study; it’s a roadmap for workplace evolution.
