Moving the Ilsley Public Library

Moving a library is no small feat—especially one that holds nearly a century of community history. Meyer recently partnered with the Ilsley Public Library in Middlebury, Vermont, to facilitate their major relocation project as they prepare for renovations to their historic building.

As NBC 5’s James Maloney reported, the intricate process involves not just moving materials but preserving the legacy of the library’s archives and ensuring continued community access. The Meyer team meticulously wrapped and organized the library’s collection before transporting it to a warehouse. To maintain access to materials during the renovation, the Meyer team took a detailed approach to packing, ensuring that patrons who request items can have them retrieved daily from storage.

“It is a complicated process to move a library,” Director Dana Hart said. “We have about 50,000 items, books, DVDs, things like that, not to mention about 100 years’ worth of stuff. We’ve occupied this building continuously since 1924.”

Libraries are more than just buildings—they represent the heart of their communities. We’re proud to support Ilsley Public Library in this significant step toward their future.

Meyer’s expertise in logistics, storage, and project management ensures that even the most delicate moves are handled with care and precision. Whether it’s a library, corporate office, or specialized facility, we understand that every move is about more than just items—it’s about safeguarding what matters most.

If your organization is planning a relocation and needs a partner who will treat your assets like their own, let’s talk.
